Getting the Shot From the Water
Shooting water photography is no easy feat. To get a great photo from the water, a photographer has to get right in the action. To do that, they need to surf with highly skilled surfers that they can trust.
In the photo above, ripper Sean Kennedy goes for an aggressive off the lip maneuver literally right over my head. To get this shot, its partially knowing where to be and partially on trust that the surfer has control over the maneuver. If your thinking about shooting from the water, make sure you have trust in your subject. Get out there and see what you can do. Do you have some close calls where you got the shot? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
